Strategic Transformation of Education Plan (STEP)
John F. Kennedy Day School has incorporated blended learning into our daily schedule. The school is a part of the Bureau of Indian Education Strategic Technology Education Program (STEP). This powerful initiative is purposed to reduce the opportunity gap, increase student opportunities, increase self-advocacy for our students, and empower Tribal leaders for future generations. STEP is supporting this impactful vision through three strategic objectives:
- Implement Blended Learning environments through an education learning management system integrated with optimal culturally responsive, standards-based, differentiated digital curricula.
- Improved digital connectivity for our schools, including increased bandwidth to the door, updated and improved IT infrastructure, and optimal student devices for every student.
- Support and professional development for educators, IT professionals, and leaders through training and Communities of Practice.
Technical tools or connectivity alone will not close the digital gap for our students. Adopting innovative blended learning teaching strategies and tools in our everyday classroom experiences is essential, not just on the rare occasion our schools shift to remote learning. Blended Learning strategies and optimal use of the eLMS with our schools' best, integrated curriculum is at the root of change and the opportunity for success.
Message from the Principal
Dear John F. Kennedy Day School Families and Students,
Welcome back to a new and exciting school year at JFK Day School! It is “Game On” this year! Once again, we are thrilled to see your smiling faces fill our halls. This year promises to be one of growth, challenge, and fun for all our students.
At the Bureau of Indian Education, we are committed to providing a comprehensive educational experience that nurtures the mind, body, and spirit. Our Strategic Direction focuses on creating a culturally relevant and academically rigorous environment where every student can thrive. This year, we will continue to build on this foundation, ensuring that our students are challenged academically and supported in their personal and social development.
We have many exciting programs and activities planned to allow our students to explore new interests, develop their skills, and have fun along the way. From daily Apache class to Sports and Robotics, there will be something for everyone to enjoy and learn from.
Our dedicated staff are here to support each student on their journey, and we are excited to spend this year together, learning and growing as a community. We believe that every student has the potential to achieve great things and “level up” in their academic growth, and we are here to help them every step of the way.
Thank you for being a part of the JFK Cardinals. We look forward to a fantastic year ahead, filled with learning, laughter, and memorable experiences.
Warm regards,
Christina J. Young
Principal, JFK Day School
